JAPAN: "THE STORY OF THE EIGHT FIELD TALL WOMEN"
JAPAN: THE STORY OF THE EIGHT FIELD TALL WOMEN
So the first story in our series "HORROR STORIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD" comes from Japan. It's about a female demon that allegedly haunts the rural areas of Japan & puts terror into the hearts of the people when the hear their children say that "THEY HAVE BEEN LIKED BY THE HACHISHAKU-SAMA(The Eight Feet Tall Women)".
So lets be afraid...
"My grandparents live in Japan.Every summer we'd go there and visit them.Something happened the last time i visited them...
I remember playing in the backyard while my grandparents were inside the house.Suddenly,i heard a deep masculine voice saying "Po...Po...Po...Po...Po...".I turned to the hedge where the sound was coming from, and there was a yellow sunhat. It wasn't on the hedge tho,but rather behind it.It moved, and i followed it,stopping at the small gap at the hedge, trough which i could see a tall woman in a white dress, grinning at me.She slowly faded back into the forest behind the house, and so did the sound with her.
I ran inside the house and told my grandparents what happened. They didn't really pay attention until i mentioned that distinctive sound."Po...Po...Po...Po...Po...".Their faces turned fro unamused to worried,to the point where my grandma almost cried.Grandpa told her to stay with me and not to look away for even a minute, while he ran out of the house.A couple of moments later he came back with a woman that called herself "K-san".K-san and Grandpa told my grandma to stay with me a bit longer while they went to the upstairs room.Soon enough, they lead me up in the room. The window was covered with cardboard that had some runes written all over it,there was a bowl of salt in each corner of the room, and a buddha statue in the middle.K-san handed me a piece of paper with something written on it in a ancient language and told me to never let go of it.I wasn't allowed out of the room until 7:30 in the morning,so,until then,i mustn't go out,nor was i allowed to let anyone in.Luckily, there was a TV in the room so i wasn't bored, and grandma made me some snacks and rice balls, but all this made me loose my apetite. When they left the room,i locked the door and turned on the TV.Fastforward to a couple of hours i heard tapping on the window.I tried to comfort myself, telling it was probably a tree branch or wind, but to no avail.Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.I heard grandma's voice softly saying "Are you okay in there? If you want me to i can come in and keep you company".Overjoyed,i rushed to the door, but stopped.Something just didn't seem right.A feeling of dread came upon me as i heard the sound behind the door..."Po...Po...Po...Po...Po...",and saw that the salt in the bowls turned pitch black.Crying,i knelt down to the buddha and started praying,as the sound got louder and the window tapping started again. It felt like hours before i finally fell asleep.I woke up at 7:40 in the morning and quietly opened the door, behind which Grandma,Grandpa and K-San were waiting for me.K-san told me to give her the piece of paper, which now turned completely black,so she gave me a new one just in case.I was escorted to a large van, with multiple men sitting inside with my parents, looking worried and as if they have cried.I was told by K-San,who appeared to drive us,that i must keep my eyes closed until she told me it was safe to open them again,as i was the only one that could see Hachishakusama, but others were able to hear her.Soon enough, she started driving.Halfway trough the trip, the tapping on the windows started, and i could hear the distinctive sound "Po...Po...Po...Po..Po...".I opened my eyes for a bit and saw a white dress fluttering alongside the van, moving at the same speed as it,until Grandpa yelled "Close your eyes!".K-san started praying, first softly, then to the point that she was yelling the prayers. The sounds stopped once we arrived at the airport. It was safe now...Grandpa escorted us to the airport to make sure we're safe.
Once home, mom and dad explained what was going on.Hachishakusama is an ancient spirit taking form of a eight feet tall woman. She was trapped ages ago by some monks, held captive by 4 Jizo statues. But one of those statues got broken, setting her free. She always chose children as her victims because it was easier to decieve them.Dad's friend from childhood had seen Hachishakusama, and disappeared one day while playing outside, never to be seen again. The people in the van were apparently my blood relatives, there to confuse hachishakusama.I was in that room because it would've took long to gather all of them.I was safe from hachishakusama, but i was never allowed to set my foot in the country of Japan again. This made me feel sad,as it meant i wasn't allowed to visit my grandparents again.Grandpa even left strict instructions that i mustn't attend to his funeral, which made the thing even sadder.
It's been 10 years since that all happened.I received a phone call from my grandma. She said she was diagnosed with a aggresive form of cancer and wanted to see me one last time before she died.I wanted to visit, but i said to her "What about Hachishakusama?!".There was a brief silence at the end of the phone, before a sound came from it:"Po...Po...Po...Po...Po..."
